Goodbye classes, hello summer!

Department Picnic at the WaterworksDepartment Picnic at the Waterworks

At the end of our last week of classes on May 7 our department had a gathering at the Waterworks near the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It was a beautiful sunny day, and we had some great snacks thanks to Monica, our department superhero. There was lots of bocce, some tight-rope walking, football and glamor shots (you just had to be there to understand.) It was great to get the chance to unwind with all the ID peeps, especially since a lot of grads and 2nd years are moving on to awesome jobs. We wish everyone the best of luck and hope you come back to visit in the fall!

What does design do for you?

Setting up the UArts PORTALSetting up the UArts PORTAL

Design Does, the exhibition we have been working on for the past few months finally opens today!  We have really put our heart and souls into this show, so if you're in the area come and see this awesome display of MID might!  Here's a picture of one project to give you an idea - a giant touchscreen to serve as a portal for the UArts. community.  The show is at the Icebox Gallery of the Crane Arts building located at 1400 N. American Street here in Philly.

Design Does Opens in 1 week!

Check out this video to promote our opening at the Icebox gallery next Friday.  We filmed it last week with a bunch of students from ID, MID, Graphic Design, Museum Studies and a few students that just happened to be standing in front of our building.  Our crack videographer, Mike Barakat edited it, added music and the text.  See all the videos we made and more info about the show here: http://dsnx.uarts.edu/

People are finally getting excited about the show, it's gonna be great!
