Philly gets ignited, again

Ignite 7Ignite 7Ignite Philly 7 was last night, good thing I got my ticket a week in advance because it was sold out as usual. IgnitePhilly is part of a global series of Ignite events that allows anyone to present about anything inspiring, but in 5 minutes or less. Lots of ignite events are organized around the world.

One month left in the semester...

As we start winding down the semester (although some members of our studio don't even want those words uttered) we are finally getting to the points in our projects where we start making/doing/building things. After many weeks of research, interviews, and sifting through information to filtered analysis we are moving into the building/designing phase of our projects. This is the time when we implement our prototypes and start making changes to them based on what works.

Getting comfy in our new lounge

New Lounge

One great thing about this fall is our new lounge! Thanks to our director Jonas we now have a new creative space filled with beanbags, a carpet, and low tables. The first years are already making themselves at home as they get ready for their seminar class which is held here on Wednesdays.

Corzo Center Collaboration Competition with Superfluid

The UArts Corzo Center just announced a great opportunity to connect with people for creative projects with a new resource called Superfluid. Have you ever had a project in mind but didn't have all the skills to make it happen?

Thesis going to be great!

Surprise, surprise, it's time for the 2nd years to start thinking about our thesis projects. Our fearless leader Neil Kleinman has come up with several readings to get us started, as well as instructions to help us frame our ideas and map out skills we might need for potential jobs.

Goodbye classes, hello summer!

Department Picnic at the WaterworksDepartment Picnic at the Waterworks

At the end of our last week of classes on May 7 our department had a gathering at the Waterworks near the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It was a beautiful sunny day, and we had some great snacks thanks to Monica, our department superhero. There was lots of bocce, some tight-rope walking, football and glamor shots (you just had to be there to understand.) It was great to get the chance to unwind with all the ID peeps, especially since a lot of grads and 2nd years are moving on to awesome jobs. We wish everyone the best of luck and hope you come back to visit in the fall!
