Biography
Early in my life, I had developed a passion for the arts and design. Before having any academic influences I enjoyed researching and experimenting with many different mediums and artistic concepts. I had always found that every new artistic venture would lead me to yet another equally interesting and different artistic process.
What had started as a hobby had become an academic focus and career. While attending vocational high school in the discipline of Advertising Art and Design, I worked as a freelance production artist for, the tabletop company, Lenox Corporation. Collaborating with their design department, I established myself with this company as a reliable and talented designer and was offered an internship and later part-time employment, while earning my BFA in Graphic Design at the College of New Jersey.
With the philosophy of that one must not be confined to one aspect of design, I continued the pursuit of obtaining the skill and knowledge in many facets of art and design, with particular interest in three-dimensional design, packaging, branding, sculpture, and conceptual art. Through my designs and works of art, I had a particular focus of personal interaction, to where my works not only engage the audience visually but physically. This aspect of my design, which I strive to bring to all of my work, directly relates to my belief that because people are interactive beings so too should design.
Completing my BFA in 2009, I am continuing my creative explorations as a student in the MID program at the University of the Arts, in Philadelphia. Here I plan to actively engage and learn from the forward thinking program, working to refine my skills in design thinking, problem solving, and design communication. It is my goal to breakaway from the traditional restrictions of the designer and become adept with the tools to work not only with common industry, but more importantly our local and global issues.
