The program works with local and national businesses and organizations. This gives MIDers the ability to develop projects that solve real world problems. Students are able to test ideas and products in real settings, affording dynamic and realistic feedback. The following are some recent partners:

Human Network Labs

We are working with HNL for StudioNEXT as well as our Interactivity class, designing strategies for their Pixie Engine Technology. Students created a series of videos that communicated Pixies functionality to the public. They also designed and prototyped a series of 10 cases to hold demo Pixie Units. The cases were printed with the shops 3D printer and used a conference in Signapore. Now, students are developing new software solutions for use with this emerging technology.

SpaceBox

Another StudioNEXT project, students worked with local architects to explore the functionality of the Space Box modular living space.

Temple Eye Tracking Lab

A group of MIDers researching Eye Tracking technology had a chance to work with Temple's eye tracking lab.

NextFab Studio

Amuneal Manufacturing

Amuneal Manufacturing, a second-generation metal fabrication company in North Philadelphia, uses technologies ranging from handicraft to the latest digital manufacturing techniques. They offer a range of services related to the design and production of commercial, residential and architectural products. Our goal is to help Amuneal improve the way it manages its projects, ultimately helping the company to grow sustainably and remain competitive as a local manufacturer in a global marketplace. Having created a set of tools and documented practices that will help make Amuneal’s operations more transparent and effective, we are now focusing on additional strategies that will enable Amuneal to refine its practices and further evolve as a sustainable enterprise.
